Did you know there’s more life below ground then there is on land? 1 Tablespoon of soil has more organisms in it than there are people on earth. Soil supports biodiversity, and maintains our natural and domesticated landscapes. In the past decade, however, our agricultural methods have strained and depleted soil health, lessening the overall health of the food that we produce and consume. Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture is on a mission to transform our food system, starting with our relationship to the soil. The farmers look to the wisdom of age-old techniques to reimagine and innovate a healthier, more resilient future for food. As a Board Member of Stone Barns Center, I am constantly in awe of the farmers and the team that are changing the way America farms and eats, as well as inspiring the next generation of farmers to be stewards of our land and the sustenance it provides.
